Fasting, Abstinance

Ever since we have recognized our irrevocable technological migration towards the mobile screens, new-gen priests have been advising us about digital fasting, when it comes to a Lenten season.

In this lent, nearly everyone, even children can run a thought on digital fasting. Because everyone knows that they cannot pass a day without internet.

Where we are, is in a cold feet- whether to do physical fasting or digital fasting!

It is easier for some to restrain from food, rather than internet, and vice versa. And also, there are people who cannot live a second without both!

So, tell me, what kind of fasting is ideal for this generation during lent?

Has the relevance of physical fasting gone completely?

No. It is intrinsically linked to everyone of human beings. If not food, may be some other physical indulgences. Like sleeping deep into your bed's wrapper.

It is too personal to find out the right abstinance for one.

You have a body. And you are basically detoxing it during a period of time- Be it any part, be it your brain, for instance.

Thinking of your life's current going, you decides to change it. And you take harsh measures for yourself. For your unruly body, or unruly mind. It's you who carefully select the punishment. Not any experts.

Isn't that a good thing? A certain abstinence for a month- A 30 day challenge.

We can only derive strength from a struggle! We should be in constant struggle!  Aren't we all weak at some points?

NB:- Lenten season is a graceful period. It has its own blessings. Just remember, saints did extra penance apart from that which was advised by their confessors. It's just- Personal is more intense a prayer.
